Why reviews matter for AI recommendations

When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI for the best business nearby, review count, recency and what reviews say are among the strongest signals they can see. Reviews that mention the specific service and your town help AI tools connect you to those questions.

How to ask for reviews the right way

  • Ask every customer, not only the happy ones. Google’s policies prohibit selectively asking for positive reviews.
  • Never offer discounts, gifts or payment in exchange for a review.
  • Ask soon after the job is done, while the experience is fresh.
  • Reply to every review, including negative ones, politely and specifically.

Where to use your review link

Text messages and emails after each appointment, the footer of your invoices, a QR code at your front desk or on business cards, and your website’s contact page.

Why I built this

Reviews are the one AI visibility signal you can grow every single week. The businesses I see winning aren’t the ones with clever tricks. They’re the ones that ask every customer, every time, and make leaving a review take ten seconds. A direct link and a QR code at the counter remove almost all the friction.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Google review link?

A URL that opens the review form for your business directly, so customers don’t have to search for you on Google Maps first.

How do I find my Google Place ID?

Use Google’s official Place ID Finder, search for your business name, and copy the ID shown. It’s a long code that often starts with “ChIJ”.

Can I get my review link from Google Business Profile instead?

Yes. In your Google Business Profile, choose the option to ask for reviews (labelled “Ask for reviews” or “Get more reviews”) to get Google’s short link. This tool adds a QR code and message templates around it.

Does the QR code expire?

No. It contains your review link directly, so it works as long as your Google listing exists.

Is it allowed to send review links to customers?

Yes, as long as you ask everyone and don’t offer incentives. Google’s review policies prohibit paid, incentivised and selectively requested reviews.
