Say what you do, who for, and where. This is the line an AI tool is most likely to repeat.

Upload the file to the root of your site so it opens at yourwebsite.com/llms.txt. llms.txt is a proposed standard: some AI tools and developer platforms read it, but the major AI assistants haven't confirmed they use it. It costs nothing to add, so treat it as a bonus, not a fix.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.

What is the llms.txt Generator?

The EduTechToday llms.txt Generator is a free tool that creates an llms.txt file: a short Markdown summary of your website, written for AI tools, that lists your most important pages. It follows the llmstxt.org format and runs entirely in your browser.

How to use the llms.txt Generator

  1. Enter your business name, website and a one-sentence summary of what you do, who for and where.
  2. Add sections, such as Services and About, and list your key pages as Title | URL | description.
  3. Name a section Optional for pages an AI tool can skip if it’s short on space.
  4. Generate, then download the file and upload it so it opens at yourwebsite.com/llms.txt.

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a proposed standard, published at llmstxt.org, for a Markdown file at the root of a website. It gives large language models a clean summary of the site and links to its most useful pages, without the menus, scripts and ads that make normal web pages hard to read.

Does llms.txt help you show up in ChatGPT?

Honestly, it’s unproven. Some AI developer tools and documentation platforms read llms.txt, but OpenAI, Google and Anthropic haven’t confirmed that their assistants use it to pick answers. It takes two minutes and costs nothing, so it’s worth adding, but it won’t replace a strong Google Business Profile, reviews, clear service pages and schema markup.

What to put in your llms.txt

  • The summary line: what you do, for whom and where, in one factual sentence.
  • Services: one link per service page, with a short description.
  • Trust pages: about, team, pricing, insurance, contact and hours.
  • Optional: blog posts and guides that add context but aren’t essential.

Skip slogans. AI tools repeat facts, not taglines.

Why I built this

I’ll be straight with you: llms.txt is a nice-to-have, not a ranking factor anyone has proven. I still add it to client sites because it takes two minutes and forces a useful exercise, which is describing your business in one plain sentence. If you can’t write that line, AI tools will struggle to write it for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is llms.txt the same as robots.txt?

No. robots.txt tells crawlers what they may or may not visit. llms.txt is a summary that points AI tools to your most useful pages. You can have both.

Where do I put llms.txt on WordPress?

Upload it to your site’s root folder with your host’s file manager or FTP, or use a plugin that serves it. Check that it opens at yourwebsite.com/llms.txt.

Do I need llms-full.txt too?

Not for most business sites. llms-full.txt, with all your content in one file, is mainly used by software documentation sites.

How often should I update llms.txt?

Whenever you add or remove a service, change your location or hours, or publish an important new page.

Is my information sent anywhere?

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser.
