How to choose a digital marketing agency in Pune: map pin on Pune with Google Maps, search and AI answers

By Atharva Kashikar · Digital marketing agency in Pune guide · Updated 23 October 2026 · 8 min read

Short answer: A good digital marketing agency in Pune should get your business found where buyers search today: Google’s local results, AI Overviews and assistants like ChatGPT. It should also tie its work to enquiries and sales, not likes. EduTechToday is a Pune-based studio in Lohegaon that builds SEO, AEO and GEO content systems for B2B and service businesses.

Key takeaways

  • Local visibility in Pune comes down to three things Google names itself: relevance, distance and prominence. You can’t pay for a better local ranking.
  • More buyers now ask AI assistants for recommendations. Being named depends on consistent business details, real reviews and pages AI crawlers can read.
  • Any agency promising a guaranteed first-page or number one ranking is promising something Google says is impossible.
  • The right agency explains every change it makes and reports on leads, calls and sales, not impressions.

What should a digital marketing agency in Pune do for you?

Its job is to make the right people find you, trust you and contact you. For most Pune businesses that means three connected pieces of work: a Google Business Profile that shows up in Maps, a website whose pages rank and answer buyers’ questions, and enough trust signals that Google and AI assistants are comfortable recommending you.

Pune isn’t one market. An IT services firm in Hinjewadi, a training institute in Kothrud and a manufacturer supplying the Chakan industrial belt all need visibility, but their buyers search very differently. An agency worth hiring starts by asking who your buyer is and how they search before it talks about posts per month.

How does Google decide which Pune businesses show up locally?

Google says local results are based on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the searcher or the location in the query. Prominence is how well known you are, which Google says draws on things like links to your website and the number and rating of your reviews.

Distance you can’t change. The other two you can:

  • Relevance: choose accurate primary and secondary categories, describe your services in the words customers use, and keep your address, hours and attributes complete.
  • Prominence: earn genuine reviews and reply to them, get listed consistently on reputable local directories, and publish content other sites have a reason to link to.

Google is explicit that there’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. That rules out a whole category of offers you’ll hear in Pune.

How do you get recommended by ChatGPT and Google’s AI for “best ___ in Pune”?

AI assistants assemble recommendations from sources they can find and cross-check. You make that easy by giving them one consistent picture of your business. Use the same name, address, phone number and one-line description on your website, Business Profile, LinkedIn and directory listings. Keep your key information in plain text on the page, not only in images or PDFs, and make sure AI crawlers aren’t blocked.

That last point catches a lot of sites. For ChatGPT search, the crawler that matters is OAI-SearchBot, and OpenAI says sites that block it won’t appear in ChatGPT search answers. Some security plugins and CDN settings block it by default. Questions to ask before you hire a digital marketing agency in Pune

Google publishes its own list of questions to ask a potential SEO. These are the ones I’d put first for a Pune business:

  1. Can you show examples of past work, and what exactly did you do on them?
  2. Do you follow Google’s Search Essentials?
  3. What results should I expect, over what timeline, and how will you measure them?
  4. What experience do you have in my industry, and in Pune or Maharashtra?
  5. How will we communicate, and will you explain every change you make and why?

Listen for specifics. “We’ll increase your visibility” isn’t an answer to question three. “We’ll track calls, direction requests and form enquiries from your Business Profile and site, and report monthly” is.

Red flags when hiring a digital marketing agency in Pune

  • Guaranteed rankings. Google states plainly that no one can guarantee a number one ranking.
  • Reports full of impressions and followers. If nothing in the report connects to enquiries, you can’t tell whether the work is paying for itself.
  • The agency owns your accounts. Your Business Profile, Search Console, analytics and website should be in your name, with the agency added as a user.
  • Bulk content. Dozens of near-identical blog posts a month rarely help, and Google treats mass-produced content without real oversight as low effort.
  • Fake reviews. Bought or incentivised reviews put your Business Profile at risk. Real reviews from real customers are slower and worth it.

Should your Pune website be in Marathi, Hindi or English?

Write in the language your buyers search in. For many B2B and professional services in Pune that’s English. For a local clinic, coaching class or retail business, Marathi or Hindi pages can reach people English pages miss. If you publish more than one language, give each version its own URL and connect them with hreflang tags, which Google uses to show people the version that fits their language. Have a fluent person review translations rather than publishing raw machine output.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a digital marketing agency in Pune cost?

It depends on scope: a one-off audit, local SEO for a single location and an ongoing content system are very different jobs. Be wary of fixed packages that promise the same deliverables to every business. At EduTechToday the first step is a free content audit, and you get a written proposal before you commit to anything.

Can a Pune agency guarantee first-page rankings on Google?

No. Google states that no one can guarantee a number one ranking. An agency can guarantee the work it will do and how it will report results, not where Google places you.

Do I need a Google Business Profile to rank locally in Pune?

If customers find you by location, yes. A verified, complete Business Profile is how you appear in Google Maps and local results, and Google lists verification, accurate details, hours, photos and responding to reviews as ways to improve local visibility.

How long does local SEO take to work?

Fixes to your Business Profile and site can show results within weeks, because they remove blockers. Building authority takes longer: we plan on around 90 days for early traction and about six months before results compound, depending on your competition.
