Do not expect to post often on TikTok if you’re serving within the US Navy. The military branch has banned the use of the social video app on any government-issued mobile devices. ByteDance’s software is professedly a “cybersecurity threat,” according to a bulletin. The Navy’s Lieutenant Colonel Uriah Orland did not provide particular causes for the ban. However, the notice asked troops to take motion to “safeguard their personal information.”
There’s little doubt as to why TikTok may face restrictions, although. US politicians stay involved about TikTok’s Chinese ownership and the potential for the app to function as a conduit for Chinese authorities’ plans. There’s no proof that TikTok is siphoning private information, however, which may not matter to jittery officers. Because it stands, there are additional worries that China may be shaping TikTok’s message, even for American users. Critics are involved that TikTok could be a recruiting tool, or else sanitize the atrocities and different types of oppression in China.

ByteDance hasn’t reflected on the ban. It previously stated that TikTok’s US operations are separate from China and have denied serving on the government’s behalf. That stance will not assuage the Navy, though, and it looks just like the Navy’s rank, and file must use personal telephones if they’re going to use TikTok at all.
